The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab

Sixteen-year-old Lexi, who lives on an enchanted moor at the edge of the village of Near, must solve the mystery when, the day after a mysterious boy appears in town, children start disappearing.

The day after a mysterious man is scene near the village, a boy goes missing. It's logical that the townsfolk believe that it's the man who is responsible and that the witches are housing him. But Lexi believes differently. She is friendly with the witches and she has met the mysterious man (who is really a boy). She believes that it was the Near Witch that responsible for the missing boys disappearance, and she is going to find the answers, no matter what the consequences.

At first the boy refuses to talk to Lexi, so she gives him a name of Cole, although he hates his name, as they become friendly, he accepts it. They work together to find the answers of the Near Witch's history by piecing together the stories that Lexi's father and the townspeople would say to their children. As a warning to behave.

As they get closer to finding the answers, they also become closer to each other as well. Cole has several mysteries that surround him as well and comes to rely heavily on Lexi and her friendship. By finding the answers, she could possibly save Cole's life as well as the other children of Near village.

A story full of fairytales, mysteries and friendship.
